| Rockwood by the Bay Triathlon Course Details
| | |
| Swim: As in previous years, Lily Lake will be the site of the swim portion of the triathlon. Triathlon New Brunswick owns and provides highly visibly buoys which will be placed in the lake to create a rectangle the length of the body of water. This will be a spectator-friendly event as the swimmers will pass along behind the newly re-constructed Lily Lake Pavilion with it's large deck overlooking the water. Be there early to get a good look at your favorite athletes! Sprint athletes will do one lap while the Olympic competitors will exit onto the beach before going back into the water for a second go at the loop. |
| |
| Bike: Leaving transition at Rockwood, the cyclists will go right onto Sandy Point Road. From there they will hang a right onto the Foster Thurston for a visit with the well known and rather infamous "thigh buster" lane. They will follow Foster Thurston Drive to the highway. From there it's a small highway ride and a gentle climb to the Crown Street Exit and hang a right at the lights back to transition. This specific ride course has been made famous in the past by its many challenging hills along the route. Riders doing the Sprint race will ride this course 2 times and the Olympic racers will see it 3. |
| |
| Run: As you exit transition, the run course will be set up through Rockwood Park. Keep track of your heart rate and how anaerobic you are running as there isn't much flat terrain to be found inside the park boundaries: you're either climbing or descending…not much opportunity for an easy flat cruise. Sprint distance competitors will do one lap of the course while the Olympic athletes will do two. Duathletes will do two laps (first run) and then one lap (second run). |
